Are you concerned with hard skin, fungal infections or the nails on your feet?

If the answer is yes then general Chiropody treatments are the answer. General Chiropody is the treatment of skin and nail conditions such as corns, callus, hard skin and fungal infections. Melody will make your foot treatment as relaxing as possible in the comfort of your own home.

Everyone's feet are unique, any particular concerns you may have will be addressed - such as difficult toenails, painful corns, hard skin, etc. Advice on maintaining good foot health is provided during treatment as are recommendations for creams, ointments etc.

Diabetes & foot health

Diabetes affects your whole body, including your feet. It is very important to look after your feet, particularly if you have diabetes, as changes can occur to the blood circulation, skin quality, nails, pain sensation and joint movement. Any infections you acquire may be more difficult to clear and wounds can be slower to heal.

Hard skin and callus should be removed, because if this is left untreated the skin can break down underneath and lead to an ulcer. This is why it is vital that you look after your feet to prevent problems from occurring. Melody will be able to advise you on this and answer any questions you may have.

Verrucae (Plantar Warts)

A verruca is a wart that appears on the sole of a foot. It is the same a common wart but when the bodies pressure is pressed onto the foot the wart become painful.

Children tend to have verrucas often and they have a very short life span. However adults will tend to have more persistent verrucas and that last for several years.

At Melody Brinkman we provide an extremely professional wart removal service in Gloucester and Cheltenham. Though warts usually do not cause a problem, you may be faced with a painful wart or one that is not going away on its own; in this case wart treatment can help. Wart Removal treatment is available and is done with the use of a laser; laser wart removal treatment is a popular and straightforward procedure. It is a very painless process and as professional we ensure you are as comfortable as possible during the procedure. The procedure usually only takes a few minutes. An anaesthetic may be applied before removal but isn’t always necessary, as there is minimal discomfort during the treatment.

Trust the experts at Melody Brinkman to remove your wart or verruca and restore soft, flawless skin. Please get in touch today to book your consultation.

As verrucas are essentially a virus you could try and leave them untreated to see if the bodies will build up a natural immunity to them, covering them under a plaster in the meantime. However if you wish for a more immediate solution then you could try some off the shelf solutions like freezing or treating the verruca with salicylic acid.

Fungal Nails & Athletes Foot

Athletes foot is caused when the foot develops a fungal infection. Athletes foot can last for a long time if left untreated.

The fungus affected the foot loves warm, moist areas. As athletes often develop sweaty feet they are more susceptible to the infection, hence the name.

Athletes foot can be prevented by keeping your feet clean, aired and not moist or wet for prolonged periods of time.

Melody Brinkman can help with Fungal Nail infections by appropriately cleaning the feet and advising on what precautions are necessary to prevent another outbreak.

Hard Skin

The appearance of hard skin on the feet is a very common occurrence. More often than not it doesn’t cause pain, rather a slight discomfort. As the foot takes the pressure and weight of the body each day it has to become durable, this is the reason you develop hard skin, the body grows extra cells as a response to this usage.

Hard Skin is usually first seen as dry patches on the skin, mainly on the heel, ball and side of the big toe. This dry skin can become yellow in colour as it begins to harden.

If left untreated it can develop into a callus or corn, which are more difficult to treat. Your heels can also become so dry that they begin to crack and sometimes even bleed.

You can prevent hard skin build up by submerging them in warm water regularly allowing them to soak up the moisture. Pumice stones rubbed alongside the hard area can also help prevent the hard skin from building up.

Ingrown Toe Nails

Ingrown toe nails are also very common and Melody Brinkman can offer her chiropodist services to help treat them.

Toe Nails are ingrown when they start to cut into the skin beside them, this can lead to infections. Anybody can develop an ingrown toenail but it is mainly young adults and teenagers.

Allowing Melody Brinkman to treat your ingrown toe nails might stop them from becoming infections and even worse, cause nerve damage in your feet.

Maintaining good foot health can help prevent your toes nail from becoming ingrown.

Bunions

Do you have a lump growing on the end of your toe? Then chances are you have a bunion. Bunions are very common, especially so in women. They can cause a lot of pain and even make it hard to walk. Wearing shoes can be difficult as pain can occur.

Allowing Melody Brinkman to treat your bunion before it gets to bad may mean that you don’t require an operation.

A bunion is when the two bones in your joints move out of line, causing the joint to stick out. The bump is your bunion.

You can prevent developing bunion by wearing comfortable, sensible shoes that don’t make your feet feel tight or rub.
